FAQs

  • How long does the day go for?

The day is broken into four sessions. The first session starts at 9:30am (9:00am registration) and then the fourth session finishes at 1:20pm. There will be two twenty minute breaks across the day.

  • Where are the sessions being held?

ACE the HSC is held at The University of Technology Sydney (UTS) in Ultimo on Sunday 10 November and Macquarie University in North Ryde on Sunday 17 November.

The UTS venue is Building 8, 14-28 Ultimo Road, Ultimo

The Macquarie University Venue is the Macquarie Theatre, 21 Wally’s Walk

  • How do I get to the venue?

After you have registered your ticket, we will email you detailed instructions on how to get to each venue. Unfortunately, we cannot provide parking at the universities so strongly recommend using public transport to our venues as parking in these areas is limited and expensive.

  • Does one ticket include both student and parent, or do I need to book two tickets?

One ticket covers both one student and up to two parents.

  • Do I have to pay for anything?

ACE the HSC is 100% free. There will be no surprise costs on the day, but you just have to make sure to register beforehand as seats are limited.

  • Is ACE the HSC only for year 11 students and parents?

The content covered across the day is suitable for students who are about to enter year 11 or 12, and so is also appropriate for year 10 students and their parents. Students in year 9 or below are welcome to attend, but the day will be less insightful as these students are further away from the HSC.

  • If I register my ticket, do I have to come to every session?

You are welcome to come and go to sessions throughout the day as you like. We recommend attending the full day as presenters may refer to previous content.

  • How will English and Mathematics be presented?

Students will be separated for HSC Mathematics to hear from a presenter for either Advanced Mathematics or Standard Mathematics (depending on what they study).

Students will all receive the same HSC English lecture as this is targeted towards the common English module Texts and Human Experiences.

While the Mathematics and English lectures are on, parents will hear from a qualified counsellor on tips for supporting HSC students.

  • What if I don’t know anyone?

Our team and our presenters are well experienced in making our sessions a welcoming and friendly environment. Once you’re in your session, your presenter will establish a relaxed and collaborative atmosphere to make sure you get the most out of your day.

If you’re really worried about coming alone, consider asking a classmate to come along with you.

What our students have to say

  • "I can confidently say that this program made a notable difference in my HSC mark. The lecture material, the personalised environment, and the highly qualified lecturers combined allowed me to develop a much more holistic appreciation of the topics at hand. The program was especially good at focusing on key target areas that were hurting my marks, and improving them substantially through one-on-one help and relevant resources.  The opportunity to learn in a fresh environment from the perspective of a different teacher was invaluable, in that it allowed me to develop a new way of looking at choice issues and consequently resulted in a much more complex and sophisticated understanding of all of the topics at hand.  The information I received from HSC in the Holidays was vital in allowing me to improve my essays and exam performance to the standard of top mark, and I would highly recommend this program to any student looking to push their marks into the highest possible band."
Jennifer | NSBC McKellar Campus | ATAR: 99.25
  • "I really loved having the resources and study notes available - at the start of the course they were so useful when I needed to get a better understanding of the material, then later on they were able to help me work out how to cut down copious notes! The resources were definitely something I'd recommend and they were very useful for studying."
    Anna
  • "It was a great help with lecturers with a plethora of knowledge and understanding of course syllabuses. It was a great aid in assisting with my HSC success!“
Kristian | St Aloysius College | ATAR: 93.90
  • "The 'HSC in the Holidays' program equipped me with the resources and a greater understanding of HSC course content, enabling me to excel in my studies.  This program is not one to miss!”
    Emily | ATAR: 93.15
  • "The HSC in the Holidays Program was exemplary in providing me with information, learning techniques and notes that enabled me to enhance my understanding of the content that I needed to know for the HSC and hence provide me with a foundation to go forth and obtain the highest possible ATAR I could achieve.”
