Students… it’s crunch time!
The HSC is upon us and now you’ll need all the motivation you have to make it through your final exams. However, don’t go celebrating just yet – now is the time to make a solid plan for the next month to ensure that you are studying effectively.
And don’t worry – we’ve done all the hard work for you! Check out our tips below:
1. Make a study timetable
Take a look at the HSC Exam timetable (you should have it memorised by now!) and organise your study around your exams. English will obviously be at the forefront of your mind, but once that is done, don’t neglect the exams that are at the end of the period – you’ll still need to study consistently in preparation! Print off a calendar and mark in what days you will study certain subjects.
2. Organise your time
Maximise your study time by studying when it best suits you. If you’re a morning person, morning study will be better, and vice versa. It’s important that you also organise your time to include plenty of exercise, relaxation and social activity – these are just as significant when it comes to maintaining your mental health during this time.
3. Meet your mates
We all do it, but this time you are totally entitled to. Whinge, whinge, whinge! Meet up with your friends and have a good ol’ rant – you’ll let go of some emotional tension and you’ll have the chance to talk over your study topics with people who understand what you’re going through! You deserve it.
4. Work hard, play hard
Allocate yourself some free time to spend with friends or family that has nothing to do with the HSC or your study. Plan a day trip somewhere, have a movie night with friends, go on a bushwalk… anything that will make you forget your worries for a few hours so that you can feel re-energised and rejuvenated!
5. Set up a study-friendly environment
When studying, avoid technology in the room and ensure that you have an uncluttered study space. Good lighting and a comfortable chair will certainly aid your study, and keeping track of your study breaks will ensure that you are working to your best ability.
6. Don’t freak out!
Prepare yourself mentally and physically for some demanding exams. You’ll be exhausted, so make sure you keep a decent sleep routine. But don’t freak out – these exams are not the be-all and end-all, they are just one gateway to your future!
Good luck, pals.
